Courthouse still on track for single point of entry

RIDGWAY – The Elk County Courthouse is still on track to have a single point of entry starting March 1.
The commissioners reported on Tuesday that the only entrance available for use, which also is handicap-accessible, will be the door behind the building and in front of the Elk County Prison.
Pending official contract approval, Allied Barton Security Services will be providing the security at the courthouse.

Ridgway Area School District extends O'Brien's contract

RIDGWAY – The Ridgway Area School Board of Directors on Tuesday night approved the renewal of superintendent Dr. Michael O'Brien's contract for an additional five years. The contract is set to expire in June of 2019.
Board members Lucy Bobby and Aimee Kemick cast the negative votes with the other six members voting affirmatively.

SMA gymnasts compete at PA Classic Championship

The St. Marys Area gymnastics squad competed in the PA Classic Gymnastics Championship held at Moon Township last Friday and Saturday.
The St. Marys squad competed in the Bronze Division where they placed third as a team with 125.950 points. Waynesboro won the team title with 128.749 followed by Southside Beaver 126.967, St. Marys, DuBois 122.301 and Hopewell 115.683.
