Vincent N. "Vinny" Scarano, 50, of 623 Suismon Ave., Pittsburgh, and formerly of Johnsonburg, died early Sunday morning, March 16, 2014 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.
He was born on Aug. 24, 1963 in Ridgway, son of Julia Robinson Scarano and the late Nicholas Scarano.
He resided in Pittsburgh for the last 20 years.
He graduated from Johnsonburg Area High School in 1981. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg. He had worked at Treasure Lake in DuBois as a Time Share salesman. He had also worked for ZEP Cleaning Products.
The second floor of City Hall will be undergoing security modifications in the near future as members of St. Marys City Council approved a $15,000 project on Monday evening during their regular meeting.
The project entails installing a glass wall upon entering the lobby area which would limit access to the entire floor without first being buzzed in by an employee. A new access and camera system will also be incorporated in the project.
Brian Hillard has resigned from the Kane Borough Police Department.
Hillard, 43, the Kane police chief since 2003, has been suspended without pay since September after he was charged with two counts of falsifying state documents related to firearms training.
RIDGWAY â€“Â The Ridgway YMCA's recent request for the borough to sign on as a host entity for their upcoming $1.6 million renovation project was approved by a 4-3 vote during Monday evening's council meeting.
Councilmen Rich Parrish, Sam MacDonald, Frank Quattrone and J.R. Geitner approved the borough's signing of the cooperation agreement while councilmen Steve Keener, John Casolo Jr. and council president Ralph Dussia cast negative votes.
