Dorothy C. Heigel, 89, of 437 Wolfel Ave., St. Marys, died on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a brief illness.
She was born June 17, 1924, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Frank and Eleanor Nissel Bauer.
On Nov. 30, 1946, she married George A. Heigel Sr., who preceded her in death.
Dorothy was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of the St. Marys Church.Â She enjoyed baking, cooking, and her annual trips to the beach with her family.Â Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Complete with his helmet, supplies, and U.S. Army attire, Mitchell Sanderson looks every bit the part of a World War II medic from Pennsylvania's 28th Infantry Division.
A sophomore at St. Marys Area High School and a member of the school's German Club, Sanderson is a World War II reenactor whose interest in the hobby was sparked several years ago as he began attending reenactments in which his father was participating.
Polly (Baum) Witmer, 54, of Reston, Va., died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Polly was born in Ridgway, daughter of the late Edward and Betty Baum.
She graduated from Johnsonburg Area High School in 1977 and from Mount Aloysius College in 1979. She worked as a certified occupational therapist assistant in Jamestown, N.Y., and Fairfax, Va.
Polly was also a certified massage therapist treating both people and animals. She enjoyed being active outdoors with hiking, skiing, running, scuba diving, rafting, and camping.
