Carol M. Hnath, 68, of 380 Berwind St., St. Marys, died on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born on April 24, 1945 in St. Marys, daughter of the late John and Alice Wickett Caskey.
Carol was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Central High School, class of 1963. She was a member of Queen of the World Church and retired from Sylvania after many years of service. She enjoyed shopping, her dog, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Anthony J. (Butch) Asti, 73, of 11 East Cardott St., Ridgway, died Friday morning, March 7, 2014 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 14, 1941 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Tony and Mildred (Aiello) Asti. He married Sandra L. Mecca on July 22, 1961; she survives. He had resided in Ridgway since 1961 and was a former Johnsonburg resident. He was a graduate of the Johnsonburg High School. He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Ridgway.
A light dusting Saturday night extended a winter season that already featured sub-zero temperatures and significant snowfall throughout the area.
After relatively normal numbers from October to December, the area received roughly 22 inches of snowfall in January, exceeding an average which is reportedly around 19 inches within the past 30 years, according to weatherdb.com.
The St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce is holding their annual dinner, "A Night with the Stars," on Saturday, April 5 at The Highlands (formerly the St. Marys Country Club).
The Chamber has been holding their annual dinners for over 25 years, and according to Ashley O'Dell, St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce Outreach Coordinator, this year's event will feature a red carpet theme with paparazzi taking attendees' photographs as they arrive. There is no dress code for the event though, O'Dell stressed.
