U.S. Rep. Glenn “G.T.” Thompson (R-PA 5) visited the U.S. Army Reserve Center in St. Marys Saturday morning both to express appreciation to service members and to discuss the recent proposal of the Obama administration to downsize the military.

The Elk County Catholic Crusader baseball team captured the 2014 Elk County Baseball Tournament crown by defeating the St. Marys Area Flying Dutchman by an 11-2 score in the championship game Saturday afternoon at Berwind Park.

Lady Dutch shut down Brookville in Saturday win

St. Marys cruised to an easy 15-0 win in three innings Saturday morning over Brookville in the first round of the Elk County Softball Tournament. Their only opposition was a steady downpour that at one point caused a one-hour rain delay.

Lady Crusaders need extra innings to drop Johnsonburg, 7-3

The last time Elk County Catholic and Johnsonburg met on the softball field in Ridgway, the Ramettes came away with a 2-1 win as each team had three hits.
Saturday's game boasted several similarities in regulation until the Lady Crusaders exploded with four runs in the top of the eighth inning to secure a 7-3 win in the first round of the Elk County Softball Tournament.

Peterson strikes out 17 as Rams shut out Elkers 7-0 in consolation game

Cole Peterson struck out 17 and the Johnsonburg Rams scored two runs in the first, four in the second, and one in the sixth to shut out the Ridgway Elkers 7-0 in the consolation game of the Elk County Tournament on Saturday morning at Berwind Park.
