Elk County officially approved for federal assistance

The office of Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett released a statement early Friday indicating that Elk County and surrounding counties will be eligible for U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) loans following a flood disaster May 21.
Per SBA guidelines, citizens and business owners in Elk County, as well as the neighboring counties of Cameron, Clearfield, Forest, Jefferson, McKean and Warren, may be eligible for low-interest disaster loans through the SBA Disaster Loan Programs.

Vogt gets 100th win as Crusaders walk off 10-0 over Carmichaels

 ECC head coach Fr. Eric Vogt notched his 100th win on Thursday evening as the Crusaders kept their undefeated season alive, walking off 10-0 in five innings against the Carmichaels Mighty Mikes in a PIAA Class A quarterfinal contest played at Jack Critchfield Park at Slippery Rock University.

Springfield softball ends Lady Dutch season by a 7-0 score

The Springfield Delco Cougars ended the St. Marys Area Lady Dutch softball team's season Thursday afternoon at Jan M. Hutchinson Field at Bloomsburg University by a 7-0 score in the quarterfinal round of the PIAA Class AAA tournament.
