This summer will see numerous projects within several buildings in the St. Marys Area School District.
At the high school a new fire alarm system will be installed. On May 30 five bids were reviewed for the project ranging in cost from $115,500 to $158,000. The lowest bid was submitted by Hallstrom-Clark Electric Inc. of DuBois. KTH Architects out of DuBois is reviewing the bid and will provide the contractor with the notice to proceed.
Work at the South St. Marys Street Elementary School (SSMSE) Kelly Gym began on June 2. To date wall padding, lights, and the old ceiling have been removed.
Harold H. â€śBudâ€ť Erich, 77, of Gardner Hill Road, Weedville, died Friday, June 6, 2014 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 2, 1937 in St. Marys, son of the late LeRoy "Curley" and Helen "Honey" (Geitner) Erich.
On June 7, 1961, he married Carol J. (Smith) Erich, who survives.
He was born and raised in St. Marys and had been a resident of Bennetts Valley for the last 50 years. He served in the Army Reserves and worked for Stackpole/Carbone for 43, retiring in 1999.
Laura E. â€śBetteâ€ť Ginter, 89, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014.
She was born to Fred and Jane Anderson on Dec. 15, 1924, married William C. â€śBillâ€ť Ginter on June 30, 1945, and lived most of her life in Brisbin. Her most recent residence was at Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation in Carlisle and had previously resided in both State College and Glen Hazel.
