The St. Marys Area Flying Dutch baseball team returns a strong corps of seniors and letter winners to form the nucleus of their 2011 season.
“Our strengths would be our senior leadership and the past experience of these players. They have championship game experience and know how to win big games,” said Dutch head coach Tony Azzato.
The returning letter winners for the Dutch are seniors Nate Geist, Kevin Hoy, Luke Nicklas, Jordan Weinzierl, Bob Vollmer, Ryan Uhl and Rocco Harshbarger and junior Justin Quiggle.
Coach Azzato feels that a question mark for his team will be pitching.

The Elk Country Catholic Lady Crusaders and Crusaders track and field squads will be anchored by 26 returning letter winners and a defending state champion. The Lady Crusaders will have 12 returning letter winners, including defending state champion Megan Dornisch in the shot put, while the Crusaders will have 14 returning letter winners.
Eight letter winners will anchor the Elk County Catholic Crusaders tennis team as they open the 2011 boys' tennis season this afternoon when they host the Johnsonburg Area Rams at Benzinger and Memorial parks.
Three-year senior letter winner Jarid DeCarli will be leading the Crusaders this season as Kyler Breakey and Kevin Detsch, two-year senior letter winners, along with one-year senior letter winner Nate Dattoli and newcomers Darren Simons and Tyler Herzing, will be counted on by Coach Nick Caggiano to provide the senior leadership.
The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders softball team returns six starters from the 2010 team, which finished the season with a 22-1 record (best in the school's history). They won the District 9-A title, the Elk County Tournament for the 10th straight year, went undefeated in the regular season with an 18-0 record, went 3-0 in the District playoffs, and advanced to the second round of the PIAA championships.
The Elk County Catholic Crusaders baseball team returns 10 letter winners from the 2010 squad, which won the District 9-A title and went into the second round of the PIAA playoffs before being eliminated.
Of the 10 returning letter winners, eight are seniors: Zac Brody, Jake Cortina, Ben Daghir, Luke Daghir, Ricky Pearsall, Kyle Schneider, Sam Schneider and Eric Wehler. The other two returning letter winners are junior Pat Brennen and sophomore Jack Herzing.
Mary T. Zelehoski, 83, of Elk Towers, St. Marys, and formerly of Johnsonburg, died Monday morning, March 28, 2011 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 10, 1927, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Ambrose and Susan Auman Fledderman.
She married Chester L. Zelehoski on Aug. 12, 1947, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1966.
She resided in St. Marys for the past several years and had lived in Johnsonburg for over 50 years. She was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1945.
Frances "Babe" Wilhelm, 90, of 1169 Windfall Rd., St. Marys, died on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Pinecrest Manor following a brief illness.
She was born Oct. 16, 1920 in Byrnedale, a daughter of the late Fiorillo and Marie Cortina Canton.
On Sept. 8, 1951 in Force, she married Edward H. Wilhelm, who survives.

ST. MARYS – Employees and officials at Pro Process, LLC in St. Marys recently surpassed 1,500 safe days at their building along Brusselles Street in St. Marys.
According to Mark Myers, manager of the company and a Johnsonburg resident, Pro Process, LLC began operations in October 2002 as a supplier of secondary machining operations for the powder metal industry.
This year marks the 150th anniversary of the start of the American Civil War, and in honor of the occasion Bucktail Regiment reenactors plan to construct a lumber raft
in Driftwood on Saturday which will be similar to those built by the original Bucktails as they made their way to Harrisburg in April 1861.
