Winifred S. Stockdill, 83, of Pinecrest Manor, St. Marys, and formerly of Johnsonburg and Wilcox, died on Saturday evening, March 5, 2011, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on Aug. 20, 1927, in Alcola-Fairmont City, daughter of the late Homer L. and Lena Bowser Adams.
On Sept. 18, 1946, she married Arthur E. Stockdill, who preceded her in death on March 18, 1974.
Charles L. Smith, 89, of 4274 Gardner Hill Rd., Weedville, died on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at DuBois Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born April 22, 1921 in Weedville, a son of the late Cecil and Myrtle Gardner Smith.
On Jan. 2, 1941, he married the late Evelyn Anderson Smith, who preceded him in death on July 2, 2006.

Dennis A. Dinsmore, 80, of 547 Church St., St. Marys, died on Friday, March 4, 2011 at DuBois Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born July 21, 1930 in Kersey, a son of the late Frank and Gertrude Schneider Dinsmore.
On Jan. 25, 1958 in St. Mary's Church, he married the late Martha Garnic Dinsmore, who preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 2008.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is the largest youth mentoring organization in the United States, with more than 400 affiliate agencies nationwide. The Guidance Center has been affiliated with the National Organization since 1990, operating Big Brothers Big Sisters programs first in McKean County, expanding to Elk County in 2001 and to Jefferson County in 2008.

Despite negative rumors and supposed misconceptions regarding wastewater discharge into the Clarion River, Paul McCurdy, who serves as environmental manager for the Ridgway borough council, said Friday that all is well for Ridgway's drinking water supply.

Dorothy Louise Robb of St. Joseph Terrace, Force, died on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at DuBois Regional Medical Center.
She was born on Sept. 12, 1929 in Sharon, daughter of the late Howard and Anna (Gromowsky) Dawes.
She was a homemaker and waitress working with the JCPenney Store of Sharon for many years. She was a member of Weedville United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling, the outdoors, gardening, and flowers. She lived most of her life in Sharon, and 20 years in Bennetts Valley.
Communities across the country are anxiously waiting to learn the potential fate of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding program. Funds from the federal program are expected to be cut as much as 62 percent, a move that is being watched closely by Community and Economic Development Coordinator Tina Gradizzi.
The Elk County Council on the Arts (ECCOTA) will be feeding both body and mind at its annual benefit next week. The council's fifth annual Feed the Arts Soup Benefit will be held Thursday, March 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Activity Center in downtown St. Marys, with all proceeds benefiting ECCOTA and its arts programming in Elk County.
Fox Township Volunteer Fire Department Chief Scott Surra presented the department's annual report at the recent Fox Twp. Supervisors meeting.
In 2010 the Fox Twp. Fire Dept. was dispatched 100 times in 2010. The total estimated structural fire loss in 2010 in $448,000.
