Among the latest personnel changes approved by the St. Marys Area School District Board of Directors are new hires of substitute teachers, awarding of numerous supplemental contracts, support personnel, resignations, leaves of absence and homebound teachers.
Members of the St. Marys Police Department and St. Marys Ambulance responded to a vehicle crash in the vicinity of 1066 Trout Run Rd. near Graphite Road in St. Marys Wednesday afternoon shortly after 1:30 p.m. One vehicle at the scene was immobilized in a ditch alongside the roadway with its air bag system deployed. No further information was available at press time.
Judy A. Thorwart, 74, of 335 Main St., Kersey, died at her home on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014 surrounded by her family following a short illness.
She was born Oct. 11, 1939, a daughter of the late Daniel and Edith Newquist Corbe.
On May 6, 1961 in St. Boniface Church, she married Lee Thorwart, who survives.
Theresa M. Naugle, 84, of Lockport, N.Y., died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014 under the care of Niagara Hospice.
She was born Oct. 11, 1929 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Thomas D. and Mary Rose DiLullo Asalone who lived in Weedville.
She was married to Robert T. Naugle who preceded her in death Feb. 27, 2011.
Theresa worked at Harrison Radiator for 20 years, retiring in 1987, and then worked at Bon-Ton in Lockport for 10 years. She enjoyed doing crafts.
Maxine H. Fink, 85, formerly of Elk Avenue, Ridgway, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 at Pinecrest Manor following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 31, 1929 in Mill Hall, daughter of the late Charles and Trenna Bridges Bowman.
She was married to John E. Fink who preceded her in death Jan. 16, 1994.
She enjoyed reading.

The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader volleyball team ran their regular season record to 3-0 with a 3-0 victory over the Kane Lady Wolves Tuesday night at the ECCHS gym.
The St. Marys Area Dutch and Lady Dutch cross country teams hosted the ECC, Ridgway, and Punxsutawney squads on Tuesday afternoon for a meet at St. Marys Area High School.
