The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch defeated the Bradford Lady Owls by a 10-0 score in five innings on Senior Night. The game was played at Benzinger Park.
RIDGWAY â€“ Three suspicious packages intercepted by law enforcement at the Elk County Courthouse prompted a large emergency response by local police officers and fire department members.
Elk County Sheriff Theresa Merritt said the "suspicious packages" were delivered to the courthouse in Ridgway and were quickly "removed from the building so everyone was safe in the building and court could operate."
The packages were discovered between 10:45-11 a.m.
KERSEY â€“ Pa. State Police Corporal Smith presented a brief annual report to the Fox Township Supervisors during their regular monthly meeting held Wednesday evening.
He began by noting 99 percent of PSP responses in Fox Township are to Walmart along with the four-lane highway, which are their busiest areas.
Among the Walmart related crimes are retail thefts, hit-and-runs in the parking lot, thefts from motor vehicles, and bad checks.
Smith also addressed concern over ATV safety.
Fox and Jay townships are the biggest townships in Elk County that have ATV-approved roads.
As prom approaches on Saturday for both St. Marys high schools, students are reminded of the sobering reality and lifelong consequences of drunk driving as part of the Prom Promise program.
Elk County Catholic High School hosted this year's Prom Promise mock crash and trial, which is rotated between ECC and St. Marys Area High School each year. The program is hosted by the Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) high school clubs.
On Tuesday afternoon, a mock crash scene was staged in the ECC parking lot followed by a mock trial held Wednesday.

A mock crash was held at Elk County Catholic High School on Tuesday afternoon to highlight the dangers of distracted driving ahead of this weekend's prom. The annual program alternates between Elk County Catholic and St. Marys Area High School and gives students a firsthand look at what happens during a crash as well as the lasting impact it can have on the lives of those involved.
