State Rep. Matt Gabler presented Dickinson Mental Health Center (DMHC) yesterday morning with an award from the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO) Seal of Excellence for successfully completing the Standards for Excellence certification program.
â€śThis is a rigorous certification to obtain,â€ť Gabler said.
DMHC participated in a voluntary peer review by PANO which examined the organization for compliance with its Standards for Excellence; An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector.
St. Marys Area School District Superintendent Ann Kearney addressed budget concerns during Thursday eveningâ€™s SMASD Board of Directors workshop.
â€śWe are beginning the preparation for the 2011-12 budget with extreme caution due to the continued economic concerns of the area, the state, the nation and for that matter the world,â€ť Kearney said. â€śWith the medial warning of the state education budget cuts that could be broad and deep, Cindy FinGado and I have set forth the timeline for our budget development. We have just completed our 2009-10 audit.â€ť
Bekki Titchner, recycling and solid waste coordinator, recently discussed with members of the Elk County Solid Waste Authority the need for volunteers at the Community Recycling Center.
"We've been extremely busy [at the Community Recycling Center] and it's to the point where we'll probably have to really sit down and discuss how we want to handle the future. There was like three days when it was slow, that was when we first opened, and then it hasn't been slow since," Titchner said.
