This Washington Street home is ready for the holidays with a front-yard display featuring a packed Santa's sleigh being pulled by two reindeer, snowmen relaxing on the porch and a Christmas tree in the front window.
WEEDVILLE. – On the morning of Oct. 26, it was discovered that the Gardner Hill Community Church in Weedville had been vandalized overnight. During that incident, a table and stereo were taken and a dead deer was left inside the church. The incident was subsequently investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police and Pennsylvania Game Commission and charges were filed against five individuals through District Judge Wilhelm's office on Dec. 12.
An email and text message alert sent out by the St. Marys Area School District (SMASD) through its automated emergency text/email notification system informing recipients of the "attempt to pass voucher charter school expansion legislation next week" and instructing them to contact their legislators and "tell them to vote no on vouchers" has come under fire for what some perceive as misuse of a public address system intended for emergency purposes only.
During the recent Fox Township Supervisors meeting, supervisors said the township was recently made aware through a letter that Veolia Environment in France, owner of the Greentree Landfill, will be ceasing operations of its solid waste business in North America.
Veolia's board of directors approved the decision and the company will be actively moving forward with finding an appropriate buyer for Veolia ES Solid Waste, Inc.
