Area youngsters enjoy Easter egg hunt

April 24, 2011

Rainy weather on Saturday did not deter youngsters at Sacred Heart from enjoying the parish's annual Easter egg hunt. The egg hunt was one of several scheduled to be held in the area. Due to the weather, the well-attended event was moved indoors, with age groups being directed to various locations throughout the Sacred Heart Activity Center. In addition to the candy found in their eggs, children also received additional goodies from the Easter Bunny, who made a special appearance at the event. Pictured are youngsters shown hunting for eggs during the event.

The weather in St. Marys was cool, damp and gloomy on Saturday morning; however, this did little to dampen the spirits of around 500 individuals who participated in the inaugural Bunny Hop 5K run/walk. The event raised over $10,000 to benefit the Brain Aneurysm Foundation.
"[The amount of participants] was probably over double what we were expecting," said Taylor Frank, who coordinated the event along with her sister, Carly, and Rachael, Michael and Daniel Paladino, in honor of their mothers.
