Letter carriers in St. Marys and Fox Township will not only be delivering the mail this Saturday; they'll also be collecting food donations from residents for "Stamp Out Hunger," the country's largest annual food drive. The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), in conjunction with the United States Postal Service, sponsors the annual food drive, which collects nonperishable food items that help to feed the hungry in all 50 states.
Computer Games 4 Fun, an organization founded earlier this year by Ridgway resident Bob Schloder, is seeking old computers that can be refurbished, filled with games, and given to area residents at nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or those in similar situations as a means of mental stimulation. In recent months, Schloder has already provided computers for a few residents at Silver Creek Terrace and Elk Towers, both in St. Marys, and Ridgmont in Ridgway.
The St. Marys Area School District Board of School Directors approved numerous business items Monday evening during their regular meeting.
Among the items approved were increases in lunch prices for the 2011-12 school year, including a five-cent increase for elementary student and 25 cents for middle and high school students, teachers and a la carte menu purchases.
