PSP Trooper Kenton Iwaniec's friends referred to him as “The Shepherd,” or “Shep.” When he and his friends would go out, he was the designated driver.
“They called him 'Shepherd,'” his father, Ken Iwaniec, said Friday. “When they'd go out, he would get them home. We'd say, 'Are you going out?' His friends said, 'Yeah; Shep's got us.'”
The Community Nurses, Inc. held their third annual Butterfly Release on Sunday afternoon in the Serenity Garden on the campus of the Elk Regional Health Center. The event benefits the organization's hospice program. Throughout the past several years, the event has become a meaningful and healing event for many area residents. A sizeable crowd was on hand for the event which featured a program which included inspirational readings during a celebration of life service, music and a reading of the list of names which the butterflies were purchases in honor and in memory of.
KEATING TWP. – The Kane-based state police report that a traffic fatality occurred at approximately 5:08 a.m. on Aug. 7 on SR 46, in the area of Coleville Road, Keating Township, McKean County. According to police, a 1995 Ford F150 operated by Joshua Quentin Benjamin, 24, of Eldred, was negotiating a right curve in the roadway when the vehicle traveled south across the double yellow center line, into and across the eastbound lane of traffic and off the south side of the roadway. The Ford then impacted a culvert. Upon impact, the Ford continued west and then impacted a utility pole.
