The St. Marys Soccer Association may soon have a new home in the Kaulmont Park, Tannery/landfill area. On Monday evening, association president Tom Nicklas discussed the group's plan in pursuing a possible new location since leaving its former home at the St. Marys Airport.
The Elk County Salary Board shot down two motions Tuesday afternoon concerning requests from the county's sheriff's department.
Theresa Merritt, chief deputy of the sheriff department, requested the creation of a third full-time deputy position and a name-change for the "first deputy" position to "lieutenant," but both motions died for lack of a second and were denied.

RIDGWAY - A local man charged with operating a methamphetamine lab out of a Johnsonburg home was sentenced Monday in Elk County Court to serve 5 to 10 years in state prison.
Justin Edward Greene, 26, of Johnsonburg, accepted a plea agreement and in turn pled guilty to a charge of possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance.
