ST. MARYS - A 25-year-old St. Marys man has been charged with arson and other felony charges related to a fire at the 137 Lynch Rd. home of his father and stepmother that occurred in the early-morning hours of July 14.
The Fox Township Volunteer Fire Department is hoping to debut their new rescue truck during the township's bicentennial next summer if plans go accordingly following the Fox Township Supervisors' unanimous approval for the purchase of the truck during their regular monthly meeting Wednesday evening.
According to Fox Twp. Fire Chief Scott Surra, the new apparatus costs $628,335.21.
"Basically we designed the whole thing," Surra said referring to the department's 7- or 8-member truck committee, which met with the truck builder last week to finalize plans.
JOHNSONBURG BORO - A Johnsonburg man charged after authorities discovered live marijuana plants inside his residence following execution of a search warrant was granted a continuance of his preliminary hearing by District Judge George A. "Tony" King on Wednesday in order that the proceedings may be recorded as per the the defendant's request.
JOHNSONBURG - A Highland Township supervisor charged with environmental violations had his preliminary hearing in District Court 59-3-02 continued Wednesday as he has yet to obtain legal representation.
Charges were filed by the Attorney General's Office last week with District Judge George A. "Tony" King against Charles M. Vaughn Jr., 75, who currently serves as chairman of the Highland Township Board of Supervisors and who up until recently served as the state-certified operator of the township's sewage plant in James City.
