A post-sentencing hearing for Lawrence Earl Donachy, 36, of St. Marys, was continued to a later time and date as announced by Elk County Court of Common Pleas President Judge Richard Masson on Friday morning.
In October, a 12-member Butler County jury found Donachy guilty of second-degree murder, rape, burglary and aggravated assault in the April 5-6, 1999 homicide of Irene Challingsworth, a 56-year-old St. Marys beautician. The lengthy trial took place inside the Elk County Courthouse in Ridgway.
ST. MARYS - A new service offered by Life and Independence for Today (LIFT) will help people with disabilities gain valuable work experience and give them an insight into different careers.
Seniors residing in St. Marys are encouraged to apply for the newly established Gloria Jean McAllister Kneidel and Patrick Charles Jessup postsecondary scholarship.
The fund is being established by Eileen Kneidel Miller, daughter of the late Gloria Jean McAllister Kneidel.
"The scholarship was established because I wanted the most important person in my life, my mom, remembered. She was a wonderful woman and loved by so many. Also for my daughter Alyssa's favorite cousin to be remembered because she thinks of him very often," Kneidel said.

Dickinson Center's annual campaign for the Autism Awareness Charity Ball is once again under way. The campaign kicked off, last week with the group receiving a $1,000 donation from representatives of Northwest Savings Bank.
The 2012 charity event is scheduled to be held on June 15 at The Red Fern from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. This year's Autism Awareness Charity Ball will feature a performance by Jack Garrett and The Swingin' Starz.
