WEEDVILLE - Representatives form EQT Corporation, a Pittsburgh-based natural gas company, were present at Thursday's meeting of the Jay Township Board of Supervisors to declare their intent to frack wells at the company's Grey Hill Road site.
Members of Local Labor Union 2448 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers [IAMAW] continued their strike Thursday against Clarion Sintered Metals [CSM] in order to obtain their goals of less mandatory overtime, a better pension plan and the same percentage wage for workers.
According to Robert D. Miller, a business representative of District Lodge No. 98 of IAMAW, negotiations have been nonexistent.
The Elk County Humane Society is hosting a PAWS Gala on Saturday, April 28 in an effort to raise funds for a new medical room at their shelter.
This is the organization's third gala, with its inaugural gala taking place in 2004 and a smaller gala held in 2007. All proceeds will benefit the society will be used for the medical room and general upkeep of the shelter, located on E. Eschbach Road in St. Marys.
