Councilman voices criticism of developer

St. Marys City Councilman Greg Gebauer voiced his strong dissent for any downtown hotel project involving developer Robert Yoder of The Yoder Group and Impact Pennsylvania, Inc at Monday's city council meeting.

CAPSEA event outgrows location

Although the third annual Polar Sweet Express event hosted by CAPSEA, Inc. [Citizens Against Physical, Sexual and Emotional Abuse] is 10 months away, Executive Director Billie Jo Weyant has already begun making plans.
The event, sponsored by Ridgway BiLo and Northwest Savings Bank, is expected to be held in the beginning of February of 2013.
Last year's event held in the Franklin Center in St. Marys raised over $4,500 to assist in supplying abuse victims seeking shelter with basic necessities.

Area residents observe National Day of Prayer

During the 61st observance of the National Day of Prayer held this past Thursday, local residents and members of a number of area churches gathered for a prayer circle held on the Diamond in downtown St. Marys.
Organized by the St. Marys Ministerial Group, the event featured pastors and priests representing various local parishes: Father Thomas Moore of Sacred Heart Church, Pastor Brad Brunner of Faith Baptist Church, the Rev. Scott T. Wiest of Shiloh Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Chris Kindle of First United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Mary Norton of St. Agnes Episcopal Church.
