The Elk County Commissioners on Tuesday approved a proposal for new software to help streamline services at the prothonotary's office.
Susanne Straub Schneider, the county's prothonotary, said Tuesday that the new software will be used for the civil side of the office.
"Currently we use infocon-- it's a DOS system and it's antiquated," Schneider said. "The new software would improve docketing for the deputies and it would also improve access to the public. Eventually, we would move to having it accessible online.
ST. MARYS - A St. Marys man appearing before District Judge Mark Jacob on Tuesday has been waived to court on charges stemming from a July 28 hit-and-run on Washington Street in the City of St. Marys that left the victim, a 21-year-old female, with extensive injuries.
In January 1943, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the President of the United States, the nation was in the middle of World War II, and St. Marys had just recently celebrated the 100th anniversary of its founding on Dec. 8, 1842. It was also in January of 1943 that Sister Victoria Marconi, O.S.B., joined St. Joseph Monastery.
At Monday's meeting of the St. Marys Area Board of School Directors, the board approved a number of new personnel items on the agenda.
All employment recommendations are provisional for 30 days pending receipt of Act 151 and Act 34 clearance documentation.
