On Monday evening, members of St. Marys City Council approved the publication of Ordinance 277, amending portions of the city code in regard to revising the procedure for setting, reporting and paying parking fines.
City Solicitor Tom Wagner proposed minor changes to the ordinance, mostly with terminology and procedures following a request from the city police department.
In the past five years, The Ridgway Record and The Kane Republican Editor Joseph Bell has acclimated himself to the community by covering everything from news to sports, and throughout those experiences has formed relationships with a wide variety of individuals and organizations. A 25-year-old St. Marys man charged with setting fire to his father's and stepmother's home was in Elk County Court Monday, where he entered a plea of guilty to crimes of arson. Steven Ray Hulings, 25, of St. Marys, was escorted by law enforcement from the adjoining Elk County Prison, where he has been held in lieu of $5,000 bail since Oct. 3, to the main courtroom of the Elk County Courthouse, where he entered a plea of guilty to a single charge of arson and related offenses, a felony of the first degree, arising from a July 14 arson at 137 Lynch Rd. in St. Marys.
RIDGWAY - A St. Marys man charged with running over his wife with a pickup truck during the escalation of a verbal dispute was in Elk County Court Monday, where he entered a plea of guilty to a misdemeanor charge of simple assault. In accepting the plea bargain offered him by the prosecution, Lee F. Reider, 60, of St. Marys, avoided the more serious charges of aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment that stemmed from the incident.
The second man in a duo charged with a string of camp break-ins that spanned one year and three counties entered a plea of guilty to 111 counts of burglary in Elk County Court Monday. The guilty plea of Mark Paul Kimes Aiello, 20, of Kane, who along with his co-defendant and stepbrother, Daniel Aiello, conspired to break into camps across Elk, Cameron and McKean counties.

During the Christmas season, the Christian Food Bank is offering people the opportunity to provide a "gift of food and hope" for a local individual or family in need through the purchase of a Christmas food box.
Dickinson Center, Inc. [DCI] is in need of sponsors to participate in the 4th annual Pat Work Memorial Christmas Project.
Last year, 221 children from Cameron, Elk, McKean and Potter counties received gifts and clothing as part of the Christmas Project. This year DCI is hoping to fulfill the wishes of 180 children, but has 35 remaining children to be selected from the Angel Giving Tree.

The Bucktail Council, Boy Scouts of America covers an area including Elk, Cameron, Jefferson and Clearfield counties, and the western portion of Centre County, and consists of 2,300 scouts and nearly 1,000 leaders, according to scout executive Greg Bennett.
ST. MARYS - Area residents seeking some Christmas spirit and holiday cheer need look no further than the Queen of the World Church on Friday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m., when area musicians will gather for this year's Nicholas J. Sinibaldi Concert Band Christmas Spectacular Concert. This year's concert band is under the direction of director Chris Gankosky.
