October 18, 2013

Twenty-five years after the boulevard in downtown St. Marys was named after General Edward C. "Shy" Meyer, a new plaque was dedicated in his honor during a Friday morning ceremony. The former Chief of Staff of the United States Army was in attendance at the event along with several of his family members, friends, City of St. Marys representatives, numerous fellow military veterans and area residents.
"We are here on this momentous occasion to honor one of our native sons, Gen. Edward Meyer, for his 36 years of accomplishments in the U.S. Army," said City Manager Dave Greene.
