Two small truck fires in St. Marys

ST. MARYS – Corporal Greg Agosti, a fire marshal with the Pennsylvania State Police reports investigating two different tractor-trailer fires occurring less than 24 hours apart in St. Marys.
At 11:51 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, members of the Crystal Fire Department responded to DeLullo Trucking Company at 1022 Delaum Rd. for a fire that reportedly destroyed a 2006 Peterbilt truck tractor. Less than 24 hours later, the Crystal Fire Department was called at 8:48 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7 to W & W Sons Contractors, Inc. for a small fire that damaged at 1996 Peterbilt truck tractor.

Emma Daghir was crowned the 2013 ECCHS Homecoming Queen on Saturday afternoon during a ceremony held at halftime of the Crusaders' football game against the Kane Wolves. Domtar offers tour as part of Domtar Manufacturing Day

JOHNSONBURG – Friday morning, area residents were invited to a tour of the J5 paper machine at Domtar in Johnsonburg. The tour was offered as part of Domtar Manufacturing Day, during which mill officials offer a closer look at their production process and history.

Northwest Bank presents EITC donation to Community Foundation

Recently Northwest Savings Bank presented a $40,000 check to the Elk County Community Foundation to be utilized as part of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) which will make grants available to area public schools to support innovative educational programs that do not fall within the typical academic program.
The funds for these innovative programs are administered and distributed through the foundation, which has been designated to serve as an Educational Improvement Organization by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

Nussbaum crowned SMAHS Homecoming Queen

Brianna Nussbaum was crowned the 2013 St. Marys Area High School Homecoming Queen on Friday evening during a ceremony held at halftime of the Flying Dutchmen's football game against Clarion. Supervisors raise concern over bus stop location

KERSEY – The Fox Township Supervisors expressed concern about approving the location of a bus stop as requested by the St. Marys Area School District. The bus stop is located at 119 Toby Rd. and does not meet the minimum sight distance for a school bus loading zone.
