The Fox Township Supervisors began their Wednesday evening meeting by observing a moment of silence for Blaine E. "Skeeter" Wildnauer Jr., a Fox Twp. volunteer firefighter who died in the line of duty on Saturday.
In a fitting tribute honoring fallen firefighter Blaine E. "Skeeter" Wildnauer, Jr., of Kersey, a solemn procession was held Wednesday morning which included dozens of fire departments from four counties.
Wildnauer, 58, died Saturday morning in the line of duty while responding to a traffic crash on the Old Kersey Road. A lifelong resident of the area, Wildnauer dedicated 40 years of service to the Fox Township Volunteer Fire Department.
QUEHANNA – The 86 individuals drawn for elk licenses in this year's drawing represented only a small fraction of the 22,331 hunters who applied. Additionally, many of those individuals had been applying for years and had accrued a number of preference points, resulting in 116,734 entries being in this year's drawing.
Given those numbers the odds of a first-time applicant being selected, much less for one of the 26 available bull tags, seemed to be slim, but that is exactly what happened for Catawissa resident William Gifford.
