JOHNSONBURG - A Johnsonburg man has been charged with impersonating a state police officer in attempting to place a phone call to an Elk County Prison inmate.
ST. MARYS - The Polar Sweet Express, a one-stop shopping experience benefitting CAPSEA (Citizens Against Physical, Sexual and Emotional Abuse), is moving to a new location this year at The Edgewood located along the Million Dollar Highway in St. Marys.

JOHNSONBURG - A Ridgway man charged with robbing a Johnsonburg bank at gunpoint was in Magisterial District Court on Wednesday where he waived his preliminary hearing on felony charges stemming from the Jan. 8 incident.

Governor Tom Corbett was originally expected to announce a transportation budget for the Commonwealth today, a comprehensive spending plan to address the state's aging infrastructure. However, information obtained Wednesday night indicates lawmakers will have to wait another month.
In yet another installment of America's gun-control debate, more than 230 vendors, a Bennezette-based conservation group among them, have decided not to attend this year's Eastern Sports and Outdoors Show in Harrisburg following the organizer's decision to ban assault weapons and related accessories from the event.
The two men who died recently at a Clairton home because a malfunctioning furnace caused carbon monoxide poisoning are just the latest casualties of this deadly gas, and experts say people need to use extra caution during the winter months to prevent exposure that could result in unconsciousness, brain damage or death.

The Elk County Board of Commissioners approved several resolutions Tuesday morning during a board meeting.
Among the approvals was a resolution establishing the annual compensation for the tax collector for the City of St. Marys.
ST. MARYS - A bitterly cold morning coupled with high winds and icy roads in spots led school districts in Elk County to call for a two-hour delay Tuesday morning. A forecast for similar weather today led school administrators at St. Marys Area, Johnsonburg Area and Ridgway Area school districts to again announce a two-hour delay for this morning. Administrators made their decisions between 2 and 4 p.m. yesterday.
