Members of the Cameron and Elk Counties Local Housing Options Team [LHOT] met Wednesday afternoon to continue preparations for the third annual housing expo on Feb. 7 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Edgewood Hall in St. Marys.
With the Elk Expo set to be revived this year, submissions of photographs or artwork are currently being sought to determine the design of the 2013 Elk Expo Patch.
The Fox Township Supervisors revisited the issue of covering fire police under workers' compensation when participating in non-emergency activities.

ST. MARYS - The first St. Marys Area School District Board of Directors meeting of 2013 began Thursday with moment of silence in honor of the victims of the December 14, 2012 shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Conn. This coincided with discussion of how the district might heighten security efforts and safety procedures in the wake of the tragic shooting, which claimed the lives of 20 children and six adults, teachers and staff at the school.
Elk County Catholic High School alumni are encouraged to show up sporting maroon and gold, ready to cheer on the Crusaders on Friday evening as part of ECC Alumni Spirit Night when the boys' basketball teams take on the Brookville Raiders.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health recently increased the State Flu Activity status to "widespread," indicating that "there was an increase in influenza activity in all regions of the state," according to the department's website, www.flufreepa.com.

JOHNSONBURG – Local, state and federal law enforcement agencies are still working to track down the man responsible for a brazen, broad-daylight armed robbery at the CNB Bank in Johnsonburg on Tuesday.
ST. MARYS – The Pennsylvania Music Educators' Association (PMEA) District 2 Band Festival going will be held from Jan. 23-25 at Elk County Catholic High School, and with more than 160 students participating in the event, organizers are hoping that area residents will open their homes for a day or two to house these young musicians.
