ERIE - Criminal charges continue to emerge in the investigation and prosecution of Francis Anthony Milliard, 55, of Ridgway, charged with two Elk County arsons and an attempted murder, as a federal grand jury indicted Milliard and a 'known associate' Tuesday for violating federal gun laws.

RIDGWAY - An Elk County Judge granted a bail modification request made by a 28-year-old Ridgway man charged with setting fire to two Elk County properties and held in Elk County Prison on $125,000 bail since July of last year.

Early morning freezing rain made travel treacherous Wednesday morning with several vehicle accidents reported throughout the area.
PIGEON – A Highland Township volunteer firefighter was injured Wednesday morning while responding to a 14-vehicle traffic accident on icy Route 66, six miles south of Russell City.
Several traffic accidents occurred throughout Elk County this morning due to poor road conditions.
At approximately 10:43 a.m., there was a traffic accident at state Route 948 in Highland Twp. Another emergency alert came in at 10:50 a.m. for a major accident near 2614 Ridgway/Johnsonburg Road. At 11:03 a.m., another accident with serious injuries occurred near 622 Toby Rd. in Fox Twp. At 11:11 a.m., an accident was reported in at 8137 Montmorenci Rd. near Old Red Mill Dam Road.
Various county fire departments, ambulance services and police were called out to the scenes.

JOHNSONBURG - Authorities are on the lookout for a man who robbed a Johnsonburg bank at gunpoint Tuesday.

The Elk County Prison will have two additional part-time corrections officers in the fold after approval Tuesday from the county's board of commissioners.
