Commissioners approve $80,000 stormwater project bid

RIDGWAY – Tuesday's meeting of the Elk County Commissioners included the board's approval of a number of agenda items, chief among them was a $85,980 bid for a stormwater project in Jones Township.

Council approves loan, unemployment rate drops

During the month of April, Elk County's unemployment rate dropped to 6.4 percent from 8.2 percent, the lowest unemployment rate in the six-county area according to St. Marys City Manager Dave Greene.
This information was presented to Greene during a recent Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Committee (CEDS) meeting held in Ridgway.

Junior Achievement looking to expand program in area schools

Nearly 60 local residents from various aspects of the community volunteered as part of the Junior Achievement (JA) program during the 2011-12 school year. The need for additional volunteers is necessary with efforts being made to expand the program, which is currently active in Elk and Cameron county schools.

STATE CHAMPS!!!

The Johnsonburg Area High School Ram baseball team captured the 2013 PIAA Class A State Championship on Friday after a 5-0 win over Canton. A large crowd of fans showed their Ram pride as they made the trek to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Penn State's University Park campus. Shown the team displays their gold medals as they hoisted their state championship trophy into the air. The Rams finished their season with a record of 19-3.
