School board approves new football coach, hotel project

The St. Marys Area School District Board of Directors approved an array of items during their Monday evening meeting, of which was the hiring of Anthony Defilippi as the head variety football coach for the 2014-15 school year at a cost of $4,402. Defilippi has held the position in the past.
Also approved was a LERTA application from Creekside Hospitality, LLC located at 1215 Million Dollar Hwy. in Kersey for the construction of a 65-room hotel and parking lot to be located along Depot Street in downtown St. Marys. Todd Hanes was listed as the applicant.

Various items approved at meeting

The school calendar in the St. Marys Area School District will be changed using April 25 as a make-up day for the Jan. 7 snow day.
On the 2014-15 school year calendar, these five dates are listed as local holidays: Nov. 28, Dec. 1, which are the Friday and Monday following Thanksgiving; Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Friday, Dec.26; and April 3 (the Friday before Spring Break).

15th annual Rendezvous upcoming

RIDGWAY – The Ridgway Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous, now in its 15th year, will run from Saturday, Feb. 22 to Saturday, March 1, and event organizers Liz and Rick Boni are anticipating its arrival.
