Catholic Schools Week kicks off in Elk County

Students and faculty from throughout Elk County filled the Queen of the World Church in St. Marys on Monday morning as they participated in a special Mass celebrating the 40th annual National Catholic Schools Week.
Monsignor Charles Kaza presided over the Mass which was followed by faith and service activities held at the adjacent St. Marys Catholic Elementary School.

Rare snow rollers appear in area

Mother Nature surprised area residents yet again on Monday as many awoke to find snow rollers, a unique natural sculpture created by high winds and snow, in their yards and fields.
Hundreds of these typically hollow formations could be seen throughout western Pennsylvania. They were reported to have ranged in size from small marbles to large pumpkins, although weather records indicate they can be as large as a 30 gallon drum and typically average 10 to 12 inches in diameter.

More agriculture workshops to come
