Surra offers annual fire dept. report

FOX TWP. – Last year proved a challenging year for the Fox Township Volunteer Fire Department having to overcome the loss of three longtime members as reported by fire chief Scott Surra during a recent township supervisors meeting.
"The end of the year was a difficult time for the fire department family," Surra said.
On Nov. 2, 2013, the department suffered the loss of Blaine "Skeeter" Wildnauer Jr., a 40-year member who died as a result of a medical problem while at the scene of a vehicle crash on the Old Kersey Road.

Seal coating bids tabled due to high costs

Fox Township Supervisors recently tabled bids for seal coating due to estimates being above the township allotted project budget.
The township estimated the project cost at $55,485 in hopes bids would be well under that price.
Project bidders were Jefferson Paving at $57,926, New Enterprise Stone and Lime at $57,704, Hager Paving at $60,811 and Midland Asphalt at $55,396.
The supervisors then reviewed paving bids with an anticipated budget of $92,595.

Preliminary hearing held for kidnapping suspect
