Kowalski sentenced in sex assault case

May 16, 2014

RIDGWAY – A Johnsonburg man was sentenced Friday to five to 10 years in prison for his involvement in the statutory sexual assault of two teenage girls that occurred on Oct. 14, 2012.
Andrew Kowalski, 23, appeared before President Judge Richard A. Masson at Elk County Court Friday afternoon and said that he was baffled that the co-defendants, Jonathan A. Schmitz, 20, and Justin Phillip Latona, 26, received lighter sentences. Kowalski argued that he had left the room and that he was not the one who had texted the girls to arrange a meeting.
