Memorial Day activities pay tribute to the fallen

It was warm and sunny on Monday morning as St. Marys' residents lined the streets from American Legion Post 103 on Center Street to Memorial Park, and then from there to the Diamond, for this year's annual Memorial Day celebration.
"It is a pleasure to see such a nice turnout and the weather cooperating so beautifully today," said Master of Ceremonies Victor Straub as he opened the program at Memorial Park.

Elk County Catholic celebrates Class of 2014

ST. MARYS - Elk County Catholic High School honored the accomplishments of the Class of 2014
on Sunday afternoon during the school's annual commencement exercises.
Family and friends of the 62 members of the senior class filled the auditorium for the 12:30 p.m. ceremony, which lasted about one hour.

Memorial Day program held Saturday at Mt. Zion Historical Park

JAY TWP. – The annual Memorial Day program was held at Mt. Zion Historical Park on Saturday afternoon, and a number of individuals turned out to honor those who have served in the armed forces. This year's ceremony included the dedication of a plaque honoring all servicemen from Jay and Benezette Townships who have been killed in action or are still missing in action.
Susan McClintick, secretary/treasurer of the Mt. Zion Historical Society provided the welcome for the program, and began by offering a few remarks regarding the society's website.
