A Brookville man is charged with felony counts of criminal use of a communication facility and "threats and other improper influence in official and political matters" for allegedly contacting Elk County District Attorney Shawn McMahon by telephone and making homicidal threats.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, Christopher Raymond Thomas, 41, of Brookville was upset about an arson conviction from January 2009. He made several calls and left messages on the office phone of the Elk County District Attorney's office on June 17.
The St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce is closing in on their $18,000 firework fundraising goal. To date they have $4,000 yet to raise before the July 3 St. Marys Independence Day Celebration.
"We're having a great year for fundraising. The community's been very supportive," said Ashley O'Dell, Chamber outreach coordinator.
O'Dell emphasized the Chamber is happily accepting any amount of donations from individuals, family, businesses and industry. Those donations may be dropped off at the Chamber office, mailed in or picked up by O'Dell.
The 2014 Art in the Wilds (AIW) Committee is honoring one of its own for his distinguished art career and a lifetime of achievement as a master potter, art teacher and advocate for artists of the visual arts.
This Saturday, June 28 at the eighth annual AIW fine arts show in Evergreen Park in Kane, the AIW Committee will recognize and celebrate John Bloomquistâ€™s career as an artist and art teacher, and, one who has had an incalculable impact on art and artists in our region and beyond.
