RIDGWAY – After over five hours of jury deliberation Thursday, Judge Richard Masson declared a mistrial in the trial of Brandon Michael Weidow.
Masson told the court that the jury foreperson had met with him in the presence of council and stated that the jury was unable to render a verdict on any or all of the charges, nor was there any expectation that they would reach a verdict. Weidow declined to comment.
A few members of St. Marys City Council toured a Seneca Resources Marcellus Shale well site on Thursday evening. The Clermont Pad D well site, also known as Ensign 125, is located in Jones Township, Elk County and encompasses close to seven acres. In addition to observing live drilling rig operations the councilmen also viewed active pipeline construction.
The Concert Choir of Elk County will be performing the national anthem at the Pirates game this Sunday, June 29. The Pirates will be taking on the New York Mets with the game set to begin at 1:35 p.m.
"It's really quite a thrill to go out there and hear our name announced and the crowd cheer," said choir member Jack Cleaver.
Aside from singing the anthem, the choir's men's quartet will be singing "God Bless America" following the seventh inning stretch. The men's quartet members are Ron Capuano, Grover Slater, David Carr and Cleaver.
