FOX TWP. â€“ Several Fox Township residents living on David Street have expressed their concern about a troublesome ditch running behind their properties which has been the cause of several issues.
The group was in attendance at Wednesday evening's Fox Township Supervisors meeting where they were adamant about finding a solution to the ongoing problem.
Signups for the Summer Reading Program at the St. Marys Public Library are currently underway, and the program's kickoff event, "Fizz, Boom, Science with Sean," will be held at the library on Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
This year's theme is "Fizz, Boom, Read," and the programs and activities offered throughout the summer will all be geared toward science in some way.
"We'll be doing things on electricity and magnification and magnets and making tin robots. We have a lot of really cool activities planned," said Vicki Miller, who is in charge of children's services at the library.
Now that another school years has ended, summer seasons are once again underway at area parks.
Benzinger Park Director John Schneider reported that a number of activities at that location actually began prior to the end of the school year. The park's coed sand volleyball league for adults began on Wednesday, May 28, with the high school coed sand volleyball league and the men's basketball league opening their seasons the following day. The women's basketball league began play on Monday.
SMETHPORT â€“ A jury found a Mt. Jewett man not guilty Wednesday of all five charges linked with the alleged rape of former Mt. Jewett woman.
Paul Ray Swank, 33, of 7 Chestnut St., Mt. Jewett, had tears in his eyes after the verdict was read.
"I'm happy to get my life back and move on," Swank said as he left the McKean County courtroom following a three-day trial.Â
He has a sense of relief because he said the charges have been "hanging over my head" since Nov. 2, 2012. Swank has been free on $100,000 bail.
