PITTSBURGH - In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Pittsburgh Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is participating in a charity auction featuring 46 items of Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins memorabilia. After the auction ends Saturday, October 27, at 10 p.m., Total Sports Enterprise will donate all proceeds from the auction to the Komen Pittsburgh Affiliate.
The Internal Revenue Service is issuing a warning about a new tax scam that uses a website that mimics the IRS e-Services online registration page.
If you find a suspicious website that claims to be the IRS, send the siteâ€™s URL by email to email@example.com. Use the subject line, 'Suspicious website'.
The temporary bridge in Penfield was built through Joanie Georginoâ€™s side yard and very close to her front yard. One would think with all the truck traffic through there that it would be very noisy. Joanie said, â€śNo, just the opposite. Due to the good construction of the temporary road, it is quieter than the old road.â€ť
Trick or Treat Night in the Township is Wednesday, October 31 from 6 until 8 pm.Â Children are invited to a hayride to the park for treats, hot dogs and a drink.

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, October 31st is the second highest pedestrian death day of the year behind July 4th.
"Trick-or-treating is a cherished tradition, but the excitement of the night can cause children to forget to be careful," said Hal Beimel II, an insurance agent based in St. Marys. "Drivers need to stay alert
and be aware that quiet streets might be busy with youngsters enjoying the holiday."
Ed McMahon, a leading authority in the world on sustainable tourism development, will keynote the Pennsylvania Wilds Fall Workshop next month and the public is encouraged to attend.
McMahon will give a presentation titled â€śConnecting Nature, Economy and Community Character,â€ť at a dinner on Thurs., Nov. 8 at the Red Fern in St. Marys. The presentation is being delivered as part of a two-day workshop of the same name and has been opened to the public to help educate residents, business owners and community leaders about the economic potential of sustainable tourism development.
