December 13th
Adam Thomas Szymanski, 92, of 6874 Rasselas Rd., Wilcox, died on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Ed Redmond of Johnsonburg, following a short illness.
He was born on Dec. 8, 1918 in Scranton, son of Josef and Lottie Rose Szymanski.
He married Luella J. Fowler on January 18, 1941. She died on November 26, 2002.
He resided in the Rasselas area all of his life and attended school in Instanter and Wilcox.
December 10th
William Louis Oleszewski, loving husband and father, died on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at Hope Hospice in Ft. Myers, Fla.
He was born July 10, 1921, in Jeannette, son of the late Bronislaw and Kamilla Oleszewski.
December 7th
James E. Holben, 81, formerly of Lancaster, Ohio, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010 at Fairview Manor in Fairview.
He was born in Nu Mine on June 15, 1929, son of the late Floyd and Verda Troupe Holben.
On July 9, 1952, in St. Marys, he married Faith Herzing Holben, who preceded him in dath in 2004.
Michael Joseph Gagliardi 52, of 120 Carney Hill, Soldier, died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday morning, Dec. 5, 2010.
He was born April 19, 1958, son of the late Leo A. Gagliardi and Mary M. Anders Gagliardi.
He was married to Donna Himes Gagliardi, who survives.
He was a graduate of St. Marys Area High school and graduated from Triangle Tech as an electrician. He enjoyed working as a mechanic.
December 6th
Rosella F. Butsch, 86, of 333 Main St., Kersey, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010.
She was born May 29, 1924 in Kersey, a daughter of the late Bernard and Helen Thorwart Schneider.
In September 1955, she married James L. Butsch in the St. Boniface Church who preceded her in death in 1963.
December 5th
Robin L. Meyer, 39, of 152 Jackson Rd., St. Marys, died Friday morning, Dec. 3, 2010, at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born June 17, 1971 in St. Marys, daughter of James Schatz of St. Marys and Linda Bush Smith of St. Marys.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1989. She was a part owner of Elk County Rustic Furniture.
On July 9, 1993, in St. Marys, she married Jude F. Meyer and he survives.
John G. Mattiuz, 67, of 105 Scotland St., Dagus Mines, died Wednesday evening, Dec. 1, 2010, at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born June 17, 1943, in Ridgway, son of the late John M. and Mary G. Zuccolotto Mattiuz.
On Nov. 30, 1963, in the Holy Cross Church in Brandy Camp, he married Mary Jean Kline, who survives.
December 1st
Anna Stanish, 101, of the Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 706 Lincoln Ave., St. Marys, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 30, 2010 at Elk Regional Health Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 16, 1909 in Donaueschingen, Germany, a daughter of the late Milan and Sophie Rothmund Geci.
On Sept. 27, 1923 in Sacred Heart Church, she married Max Stanish, who preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1970.
Paul Joseph “Bogie” Biel, 62, of Old Kane Road, Wilcox, died unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, during the course of one of his favorite hobbies.
He was born Dec. 13, 1947, in Ridgway, son Olga (Damier) Biel of Wilcox, and the late Vincent Biel.
On Oct. 14, 1972, he married Donna Zawatski, who survives.
November 30th
William J. Ott, 80, of 430 N. St. Marys St., St. Marys, died on Monday morning, Nov. 29, 2010, at the Elk Regional Health Center after a brief illness.
He was born April 10, 1930, in St. Marys, son of the late John and Philomena (Minnie) Sweener Ott.
