Clyde F. Robison, 81, of Studio City, Calif., died on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 12, 1930 in St. Marys, the only child of the late Francis and Deloris Robison.
He graduated from St. Marys Area High School and went on to serve in the Coast Guard. Most of his professional career was spent at Stackpole Components Company, with his last position being VP of Sales.
In 1976, he relocated to California after becoming a partner in Luscome Engineering, which he retired from in 2009.
Catherine A. "Kitty" Bergant, 76, of 6515 Ridgway Rd., Johnsonburg, and formerly of Pittsburgh, died Tuesday evening, Sept. 27, 2011 at the residence of her daughter, Toni Ritchey, in Forbes Road.
She was born March 21, 1935 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Patsy and Theresa Steinbach Cherry
On March 2, 1962, in Johnsonburg, she married Donald J. Bergant, who preceded her in death on March 6, 2004.
Edward M. McAlee, age 60, of High Street, Johnsonburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 at Geisinger Medical Center of Danville, after a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 31, 1950 in Ridgway, son of Harold â€śBudâ€ť and Lavina (Roberts) McAlee, deceased.
He worked as a Bell Tone hearing aide salesman, millwright at Johnsonburg paper mill, and manager of the Johnsonburg Elks Club where he also had served as Exalted Ruler. He also owned and operated the Kopper Kettle restaurant of Johnsonburg from October 1999 to May 2011.
Margaret B. Scaccia, 88, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of Railroad Street, Daguscahonda, died on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
She was born February 27, 1923 in Daguscahonda, a daughter of the late Joseph and Barbara Frances Bolitiski.
On June 25, 1943 in Daguscahonda, she married the late Henry Scaccia, who preceded her in death in 1983.
Judi Ann Yonkie, 57, of Keystone Avenue, Sheffield, died on Monday, September 26, 2011 at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She was born October 13, 1953, in Kane, the daughter of the late Clifford D. and Evelyn M. Parsons Snyder Sr.
She was a 1971 graduate of Sheffield High School. She was most recently a homemaker, although she worked for many years as a sexton at the Bethany Lutheran Church and as a librarian at the Sheffield Township Library. She enjoyed her family and many friends, and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Harry J. "Hal" Steis, 85, of 190 Taft Road, died Saturday, September 24, 2011, six days shy of his 86th birthday, at home while surrounded by his family.
He was born September 30, 1925 in St. Marys, a son of the late Harry Joseph and Ruby Smith Steis.
On July 29, 1949 in Johnsonburg Methodist Church, he married Alice Neilson Steis, who survives.
Gerald J. "Smitty" Smith, 91, of 103 Bayberry Road, St. Marys, died on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a short illness.
He was born February 27, 1920 in Ridgway, a son of the late Louis and Amelia Fileshifter Smith.
On December 26, 1951 in St. Marys, he married Audrey Resch Smith, who survives.
Smith was a lifelong resident of the area and had worked for many years at the Elk County Dairy.Â He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and received a Purple Heart after being wounded. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Norman J. "Jack" Kraus Jr., 81, of 523 E. Kaul Avenue, St. Marys, died unexpectedly on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh.
He was born November 16, 1929 in St. Marys, a son of the late Norman J. and Lillian Blanchard Kraus.
On July 12, 1958 in St. Mary's Church, he married the late Verna Sorg Kraus, who preceded him death on death on January 2, 2007.
Mr. Kraus was a member of St. Mary's Church.Â He retired from Carbone after more than 30 years of service.Â He was a member of the
James Irvin Julian, 85, of Columbia City, Ore., died at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 28, 2011.
He was born February 21, 1926 at Indianapolis, Ind., to the late John Emsley and Gladys Lucille (Foxall) Julian. On June 7, 1947, in Chicago, Ill., he married Marion Elizabeth Yates, who survives.
Mary Louise Krieg, 84, of Elco Glen, St. Marys, and formerly of 138 Queens Rd., St. Marys, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 at the Elk Regional Health Center after a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 17, 1926 in Ford City, daughter of the late Edward L. and Anna McGinley Shields.
On March 3, 1945, in the Sacred Heart Church, she married George R. Krieg, who preceded her in death on July 11, 2001.
Mrs. Krieg was raised in St. Marys and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. She was a retired employee of AAA and in her early years, worked for the War Department in Washington, D.C.
