Sheila A. Winslow, 30, of Weedville, died unexpectedly at home on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011.
She was born on Nov. 4, 1980, in DuBois, daughter of Brian Winslow and Mona Burke.
She lived all of her life in Clearfield, DuBois and Bennetts Valley, worked at Arete QIS in Kersey, and enjoyed music and especially playing the guitar.
Romaine M. Shannon, 74, of 415 Walnut Street, St. Marys, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, surrounded by her family, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 12, 1936, in Kersey, daughter of the late Jerome E. and Theresa Gahr Copella.
On Aug. 25, 1956, in the St. Boniface Church, she married Terrence J. Shannon Sr., who survives.
Harold J. â€śHarryâ€ť Trievel, 76, of 531 85th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL, died Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg.
He was born Dec. 22, 1934, in Philadelphia, son of the late Harold M. and Rose M. Higgins Trievel.
On July 12, 1958, he married Concilia M. Martino, who preceded him in death on July 14, 2007.
LaJoy G. Newell, 85, of 148 Hemlock Road, St. Marys, died Sunday morning, Feb. 20, 2011 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after an illness of the past year.
He was born on July 24, 1925, in St. Marys, son of the late Alton and Leona Hoffman Newell.
On Nov. 18, 1950, in the Guardian Angels Church in Coal Hollow, he married Virginia Dallasen, who survives.
Phyllis M. Kerr, 86, of 509 Woodland Ave., Johnsonburg, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 at Pinecrest Manor in St. Marys following a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 26, 1924, in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Edward and Anna Mullen Haser.
She married John L. Kerr on June 21, 1947 in Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg. He died on Oct. 1, 1998.
She resided in Johnsonburg all her life and graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1942.
Thomas G. Anderson, 69, of 577 Kerner Ave., St. Marys, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center following an illness of the past year.
He was born Sept. 3, 1941, in St. Marys, son of the late Arthur and Bertha Selle Anderson.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1960. He was a retired employee of OSRAM Sylvania, retiring on Dec. 31, 1999, after 38 years of service.
On July 10, 1981, in the St. Mary's Church, he married Mary E. Nero, who survives.
Rita M. Siverling, 90, of New Cumberland, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011 at
York Memorial Hospital, Spring Garden Twp.
She was born Sept. 26, 1920 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Anthony Peter and
Anna Rose (Heindle) Loeffler.
She was a retired cook, having worked in the Buffalo, N.Y. area.
She is survived by two sons, Kurt A. and Bruce E., both of Batavia, N.Y.; four
daughters, Vera E. of Brockport, N.Y., Judith A. Spenser of Holly, N.Y., Norma J.
Smith of Lancaster and N. Jayne Jageler of Etters; 18 grandchildren;
and 30 great-grandchildren.
Alan J. Kraus, 65, of 573 West Main Street Ext., Kersey, died at his residence on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, following a brief illness.
He was born April 24, 1945 in St. Marys, a son of the late Norman J. and Lillian Blanchard Kraus.
On May 11, 1974 in St. Marys, he married Harriet Hollobaugh Kraus, who survives.
He was a member of the Kersey Eagles.Â He enjoyed watching television, especially wrestling and sports.Â He also enjoyed Sodoku puzzles and spending time with his family.
Mazetta L. Carpin, 84, of Bennetts Valley Highway, Penfield, died on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011 at DRMC after a short illness.
She was born Nov. 9, 1926 in Byrnedale, a daughter of the late Harry and Twila (Hetrick) Hellberg.
On June, 23, 1951, she married Anthony B. Carpin, who preceded her in death in 2000.
She was a homemaker and attended Caledonia United Methodist Church. She was born and raised in Byrnedale and lived most of her life in Penfield.
Carl W. Wildfire, 83, of 114 Cherry Rd., Kersey, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 15, 2011 at the Elk Regional Health Center after an illness of the past year.
He was born Sept. 30, 1927 in Kersey, son of the late Alois and Charlotte Benson Wildfire. In February 1952, in the St. Boniface Church, he married Elizabeth â€śBettyâ€ť L. Woodley, who survives.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Kersey High School, Class of 1944. He was a retired employee of the Stackpole Carbon Co., retiring in 1987 after over 45 years of service.
