Herman A. Grotzinger

Herman A. Grotzinger, 90, of 435 Evers Ave., St. Marys, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 at Elk Regional Health Center following a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 7, 1922 in St. Marys, son of the late Ambrose and Margaret Smith Grotzinger. On Oct. 7, 1947, in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Eleen I. Smith, who survives.
Mr. Grotzinger was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. He was a retired employee of Stackpole Carbon Company, retiring in 1987 after 43.5 years of service, and owned Grotzinger Agway for 30 years.

Devin E. Mertz

Devin E. Mertz, 24, of 535 Washington St., St. Marys, died on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born June 19, 1988 in St. Marys, a son of Thomas A. Mertz of Kane and Kathryn Novosat Mertz of St. Marys, who survive.
Devin was a lifelong resident of the area and had attended St. Marys Area schools. He enjoyed skateboarding, biking and spending time with his friends. Devin also gave the gift of life as an organ donor.

David A. Benson Sr.

David A. Benson Sr., 71, of 482 Silver Creek Rd., Johnsonburg, died on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born on Dec. 17, 1940 in Johnsonburg, son to the late Arthur and Louise Polinski Benson.
On Aug. 2, 1963 he married Julia Kasmierski, who survives.
He was a lifelong resident of Johnsonburg, having graduated from the Johnsonburg High School in 1958. He was employed by PennTech Papers in Johnsonburg for 40 years before retiring in 1998.
He was also a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Johnsonburg.
