Mary Chupa Cherry

Mary Chupa Cherry, 93, of Bendigo Road, Johnsonburg, died Monday, March 26, 2012 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after a short illness.
She was born on Nov. 30, 1918, in Avella, Pa., daughter of the late George Chupa and Anna (Ighnatko) Chupa. In 1946, she married George Cherry, who survives.
Born and raised in Avella, she came to Johnsonburg in 1945.
She had worked as a streetcar operator in Pittsburgh and in the Drabo Shipyard of Pittsburgh where she worked as a welder, manufacturing landing craft during WWII.
