Theodore Irwin, 78, of Gardner Hill, Weedville, died on Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Clearfield Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born Aug. 24, 1933 in Medix Run, son of the late Raymond and Ruth (Lewis) Irwin.
He lived in Bennetts Valley for most of his life. He was a member of Weedville Wesleyan Church and enjoyed HAM Radios.
He retired from the Navy Construction Battalion "Seabees," where his service included the Vietnam War.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mildred M. Haberberger, 92, of 1036 Theresia St., St. Marys, died at Elk Regional Health Center on Friday morning, March 30, 2012.
She was born Aug. 20, 1919 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late John A. and Cecilia M. Feldbauer Braun.
On July 6, 1945 in St. Marys Church, she married the late Cletus J. "Beeps" Haberberger, who preceded her in death Feb. 2, 1990.
Thomas P. "Tom" Weaver, 63, of 613 First Ave., Johnsonburg, died Wednesday evening, March 28, 2012, at his residence following an illness of 15 months.
He was born on March 24, 1949 in Vestaburg, son of the late Clarence and Isabelle Kittle Weaver.
He married Mary Winifred Hoh on March 17, 1973 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, and she survives.
Robert A. Schatz, 89, of 753 Washington Rd., St. Marys, died Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the Elk Regional Health Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 8, 1922, in St. Marys, son of the late Henry and Beatrice Marshall Schatz, and was preceded in death by his grandmother Anna, who had raised him.
On Oct. 20, 1945, in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Frances Celin, who survives.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys public schools. He was a retired employee of the Stackpole Carbon Company, retiring in 1978 after over 40 years of service.
Shirley E. Sheeley, 77, of 215 Dagus Mines Rd., Dagus Mines, died Thursday, March, 29, 2012, at the Elk Regional Health Center unexpectedly.
She was born Aug. 22, 1934, in Elbon, daughter of the late Charles E. and Agnes L. Anderson Lyle.
On Jan. 9, 1960, in Ridgway, she married James E. Sheeley, who survives.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of the Horton Township High School. She was a retired employee of Brockway Glass, retiring in 1997 after over 30 years of service.
Nanette Caggiano, 82, of 28 Pierce Ave., Ridgway, died Tuesday, March 28, 2012 at Elk Regional Health Center after a short illness.
She was born April 12, 1929, in New York City, N.Y., the daughter of the late Anthony and Grace DePaolo Romandetti. On May 31, 1947, she married Rudolph Caggiano, who predeceased her on May 14, 2004.
Robert P. Auman, 84, of 310 George St., St. Marys, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the Elk Regional Health Center after a brief illness.
He was born April 1, 1927 in St. Marys, son of the late Leonard J. and Florence Kerner Auman.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Mary's Parochial School and Central Catholic High School. He was a retired employee of the Stackpole Carbon Co., retiring in 1987 after 40 years of service.
On June 16, 1951 in the St. Maryâ€™s Church, he married Margery M. Dippold, who survives.
Mary Chupa Cherry, 93, of Bendigo Road, Johnsonburg, died Monday, March 26, 2012 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after a short illness.
She was born on Nov. 30, 1918, in Avella, Pa., daughter of the late George Chupa and Anna (Ighnatko) Chupa. In 1946, she married George Cherry, who survives.
Born and raised in Avella, she came to Johnsonburg in 1945.
She had worked as a streetcar operator in Pittsburgh and in the Drabo Shipyard of Pittsburgh where she worked as a welder, manufacturing landing craft during WWII.
Edith E. Koch, 98, died on Monday, March 26, 2012, at the Elk Regional Health Center. She was a former resident of Pinecrest Manor and Ridgmont Personal Care. Edith was born Sept. 5, 1913 in Ridgway to the late John and Matilda (Olson) Werner. On July 23, 1941, she married Francis J. Koch.
Edith was a longstanding member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School, and was involved in the Altar Guild, WELCA, and was a member of Eastern Star. She graduated from the Ridgway High School in 1932. She was given a life membership to the Elks Lodge #872 after her husband's death.
Edward P. Eukon, 72, of 938 North Broad St., Ridgway, died Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.
He was born April 4, 1939 in Ridgway, the son of the late John and Kathryn Eukon.
He married Barbara M. McAlee, who predeceased him on Sept. 25, 2009.
Mr. Eukon resided in Ridgway all of his life. He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. He was the meat manager at the Market Basket and he also worked at Carbide Graphite as a security guard. He enjoyed painting crafts for his grandchildren.
