January 18th
Jerome P. Straub, 88, of 550 School St., St. Marys, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 9, 1924 in St. Marys, son of the late Peter Paul and Irene Leona Fritz Straub.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Vincent Prep School. He was also a graduate of Penn State University, Class of 1946, earning an Engineering Degree. He was a retired employee of the Keystone Carbon Co., retiring in 1986 after 40 years of service.
Victor C. "Wedo" Aiello, 90, of 301 Fairview Ave., Johnsonburg, died Thursday evening, Jan. 12, 2012, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born Sept. 6, 1921 to Italian immigrants, the late Gennaro and Frances Chirillo Aiello.
He married Vittoria I. Bevacqua on Oct. 18, 1951 in Welland, Ontario, Canada, and she survives
January 17th
JoAnn M. Ross, 80, of 256 Monterey Ave., Ridgway, died on Monday afternoon, Jan. 16, 2012 at her residence.
She was born Aug. 27, 1931 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Elmer and Anna Anderson.
On July 25, 1953, she married Norman H. Ross, who preceded her in death on May 10, 2006.
She was a lifelong resident of this area. She was a graduate of the Ridgway High School and a graduate of the Augustana Lutheran Pediatric Nursing School in Chicago.
January 16th
JoAnn M. Ross of 256 Monterey Ave., Ridgway, died Monday afternoon, Jan. 16, 2012 at her residence following a brief illness.
Funeral and committal services for JoAnn M. Ross will be held Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Eric Hart, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakmont Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home, 136 Center St., Ridgway.

Carmen L. Martino, 66, of 34 West Cardott St., Ridgway, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at his residence.
He was born August 24, 1945, in Ridgway, the son of Ruben and Virginia Vecchiarella Martino.
On September 14, 2007, he married Jennifer Wolff, who survives.
Mr. Martino had resided all of his life in Ridgway. He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church and he was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Ridgway Rifle Club. He was a retired fireman with the Ridgway Volunteer Fire Dept.
Patricia A. Green, 55, of 691 Pontzer Ave., St. Marys, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She was born March 15, 1957 in DuBois, a daughter of the late Gustie Anderson and Agnes Thielges Anderson Grier.
On July 8, 2002 in Johnsonburg, she married Clifford Green, who survives.
January 15th
Freda M. Michuck, 100, of Horseshoe Drive, Penfield, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012 at DRMC West after a lengthy illness.
She was born April 3, 1911 in Tyler, daughter of the late David and Agnes (Gustafson) Walker.
She married John Michuck, who preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1980.
Born and raised in Tyler, she was a Penfield resident since 1941. She was a housewife and attended Penfield United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed volunteering her time, along with the Penfield Fireman's Auxiliary and many other local volunteer activities throughout the years.
Bertha M. Verbeck, 93, of 135 Swift St., Ridgway, died early Saturday morning, Jan. 14, 2012, at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born Jan. 21, 1918 in Medix Run, Benezette Township, daughter of the late Adiel and Mary (Lynch) Verbeck.

John A. Schwabenbauer, 93, a resident of Pinecrest Manor, St. Marys, and formerly of 615 Sherry Rd., St. Marys, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.
He was born Oct. 31, 1918, in St. Marys, son of the late Walter H. and Gertrude C. Wickett.
On May 22, 1946, in the St. Boniface Church in Kersey, he married Adeline D. Mosier who preceded him in death on Oct. 13, 2010.
