January 11th
Etta C. Hicks, 97, of River Road, Weedville, died on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 at the DuBois Nursing Home following a brief illness.
She was born on Sept. 2, 1915 in Kittanning, daughter of the late Harry and Floda Dell (Campbell) Brumbaugh.
She married Jesse Lee Hicks Jr. on Feb. 11, 1950. He preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 1998.
Mrs. Hicks was a Bennetts Valley resident since 1950. She was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting, embroidery, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and grandchildren, especially the Sunday dinners.
Mary V. Dollinger, 90, of 163 Hemlock Rd., St. Marys, died on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 at Elk Regional Health Center following a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 22, 1922 in Ramsaytown, daughter of the late Steven and Agnes Krizmanich. On Aug. 25, 1945, in Our Lady of Christian Church in Byrnedale, she married William H. Dollinger. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1997.
January 10th
Karen Sue Yorns, 44, of 429 Allenhurst Ave., Ridgway, died peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 9, 2013.
She was born June 8, 1968, in Butler, the daughter of James Lilley and the late Doris E. Lillie Lilley.
Karen worked as a part-time hairstylist, she took care of her mom for Community Nurses and was a volunteer for CAPSEA for many years. She spent a lot of time in Corry, where many of her relatives still survive. In spite of her long-standing, serious health issues, she remained a loving, caring, helping person. Truly a beautiful angel on earth.
January 8th
William James Boylan Sr. died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013.
He was born on March 26, 1925 in Kane, the son of the late Clarence and Kathryn (Renehan) Boylan.Â
He attended school at Saint Callistus and Kane high schools. He graduated from Kane High School in 1943. He was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps (today’s Air Force) during World War II, where he served as a co-pilot.Â

Emilia Celin Zuzek, 97, of 214 N. 11th St., Olean, N.Y., passed away to her eternal journey on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 at the Absolut Care, Allegany.
She was born Aug. 19, 1915 in IL. Bistrica, Austria, today Slovenia, to the late Joseph and Catherine Rolick Celin. On May 30, 1959 at St. John’s Church in Olean, she married Andrew J. Zuzek who predeceased her on Dec. 25, 1986.
Mrs. Zuzek resided in Slovenia, Italy, and Olean, was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and retired from the former Acme Electric Co in Allegany. She enjoyed reading and gardening.
Vera Piscitelli Sinibaldi, 94, a resident of Silver Creek Terrace and formerly of 455 Spruce St., St. Marys, died early Monday morning, Jan. 7, 2013 at the Elk Regional Health Center after a brief illness.
She was born March 3, 1918 in Lewis Run, daughter of the late Humbert and Anna Carrara Piscitelli. On May 4, 1946, in St. Bernard’s Church in Bradford, she married Nicholas J. Sinibaldi, who preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 2006.
Paul "Skip" Schreiber, 67, of Davie, Fla., died on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013.
A native of St. Marys, Skip relocated to south Florida in the mid-1960s, where he enjoyed a career in the music and record industry as a record promoter with Campus records and as a promotions director with Pickwick International.
Skip leaves behind his wife, Theresa, sons Anthony (Magaly) and Joseph (Allison); and grandchildren Alexandra and Maxwell; a brother, Lavern Schreiber (Joyce); and his stepfather, Floyd Tucci of St. Marys.
June E. Pearson, 86, of Johnsonburg, died at Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys, on Sunday evening, Jan. 6, 2013.
She was born Jan. 27, 1926 in Johnsonburg, a daughter of the late Axel and Alla Bowers Pearson.
June was a member of First Baptist Church of Johnsonburg, where she had served many years as Vice Moderator, Choir Director, Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent. June also served as President of the Anna B Class, and Women’s Missionary Society of the Allegheny River Association.
Charles R. Cover III, 61, of 101 N. Mill St., Ridgway, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at his residence. He was born Feb. 25, 1951, in St. Marys, the son of the late Charles R. and Frances Luchs Cover Jr.
Mr. Cover was a longtime Elk County resident. He attended Johnsonburg High School and served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
January 6th
Betty J. Taylor, 60, of 57 Beaver Lane, Kersey, died Saturday evening, Jan. 5, 2013 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 17, 1952 in Brookville, daughter of the late Walter and Sara Postlewaite Allshouse. On July 8, 1994 in the First Presbyterian Church in Ridgway, she married Joseph L. Taylor Sr., who survives.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys Public High School. She was a former employee of Stackpole Carbon Company and Penn Metal Stamping.
