Donald R. DeVallance, 88, of 1475 Montmorenci Rd., Ridgway, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, March 13, 2013 at his residence.
He was born Jan. 14, 1925 in Brockwayville, son of the late Norman Lane and Altha Venice (Dillon) DeVallance.
He married Rhea M. Smith on Feb. 17, 1947, and she survives.
He had resided in Ridgway since 1930 and was a former Brockway resident. He was a member of the Ridgway Church of the Nazarene and the NRA.
James Elroy Morean, 88, of Erie Ave., St. Marys, departed the earthly realm on Tuesday, March 12, 2013.Â
He was born on Nov. 18, 1924, to the late Adelbert and Lina Lockwood Morean, who were from Austin.Â
On May 15, 1948 he married Betty Huston Morean, who survives.Â
Gregory Lee Jackson, 40, of Bradford, died March 10, 2013, after a short battle with cancer.
He is survived by his father, Larry Terwilliger (Diane Northrop); four children, Gabriella, Justin, Kimberly and Karissa; two grandchildren, Camdin and Cheyenne; two sisters, Beverly Terwilliger (Raymond Neureiter) and Rebecca (Tor) Swanson; one brother, Steven Terwilliger (Crystal Carey); and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Clem G. Jackson; and his mother, Wendy Sue Jackson Terwilliger.
Margaret â€śMargeâ€ťÂ Schaberl Forster, 99, a recent resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 979 Johnsonburg Rd., died on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the nursing home.Â
She was born on Nov. 26, 1913 in Daguscahonda in a boarding house run by her mother, Gertrude Schaberl.Â
On Oct. 10, 1935, she married the late Henry "Hank" Forster in St. Mary's Church, where they celebrated four very special anniversaries.Â He preceded her in death on June 28, 2002 after nearly 67 years of marriage.Â
Doris B. Hunger, 82, of Punxsutawney, died peacefully at home with her family on Thursday, March 7, 2013.
She was born July 25, 1930 in Summerville, the daughter of the late Donald and Sarah (Wayland) Burns. She was married to John B. Hunger Jr., who preceded her in death on July 20, 2002.
Mrs. Hunger and her husband owned and operated Hunger's Office Supply in Punxsutawney and the Hunger's Hallmark at the Groundhog Plaza.
Mary Lou Knapp DiNardo, 80, of 424 Water Street Extension, Johnsonburg, died early Thursday morning, March 7, 2013 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a brief illness.
She was born on May 7, 1932 in Johnstown, daughter of the late LaRue and Mildred Hunter Knapp.
She had been married to John Murphy II and the late George DiNardo.
John R. Gerg, 74, formerly of 408 Center St., St. Marys, and a resident of New Port Richey, Fla., since 2006, died unexpectedly on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 at his home.
He was born April 24, 1938 in St. Marys, the only child of the late John G. and Rita J. Golden Gerg.
John was an employee of Stackpole Carbon and then Sylvania, from which he retired. He served as a private in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959.
Wayne A. Wickett, 57, of 478 Brusselles St., St. Marys, died on Monday, March 4, 2013 at Elk Regional Health Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 8, 1956 in St. Marys, a son of the late Herbert and Helen Parana Wickett.
On May 15, 1981 in St. Mary's Church, he married Patricia Beaver Wickett, who survives.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of SMAHS, Class of 1974.Â He worked at Metaldyne for many years and also owned and operated his own business, Wickett's Machining.Â He enjoyed watching sports, cooking and making wine.Â
Keith J. Knouse, 82, of Burke, Va., and a former St. Marys resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at the home of his daughter, Annette Kohn of Burke, Va., after a lengthy illness.
He was born June 8, 1930 in St. Marys, son of the late Roland â€śTexâ€ť H. and Lavina Klein Knouse. On July 15, 1961 in the St. Maryâ€™s Church, he married Theresia M. Rettger, who preceded him in death on Sept. 11, 2005.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Altoona High School, Class of 1949. He was a retired employee of Quality Components, retiring in 1994 after over 30 years of service.
George F. Hutton, 76, of Bennetts Valley, Byrnedale, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 at Christ the King Manor of DuBois.
He was born Dec. 15, 1936 in Mahaffey, son of the late Harold and Martha (Reasinger) Hutton.
In 1961, he married to Joan (Kuchy) Hutton, who survives.
George was raised in Benezette and lived the rest of his life in Byrnedale.Â
He was a graduate of Benezette School, Class of 1953. He worked with PennDOT for 11 years, was owner of the Log Cabin Inn for 15 years, worked construction until 2000 and also for Lyn-Clare flower shop for several years.
