Oscar L. Shugars, 89, of Penfield and formerly of Brockport, died Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the DuBois Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
He was born November 19, 1923 in Wilcox, son of the late Oliver and Madaline (Pontious) Shugars.
She married Ruth (Arnold) Shugars and she preceded him in death on January 16, 1998. He married his second wife Leona Shaffer (Starr) Shugars on July 14, 2001 and she survives.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Armored Division.
Craig R. "Hank" Schneider, 52, of the Fayette House on Windfall Road, St. Marys died on Saturday, July 20, 2013 following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 5, 1961 in St. Marys, a son of Donald J. and JoAnn Gahr Schneider of St. Marys.
He was a lifelong resident of the area, attended Queen of the World School and was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1979. He was employed at Elcam from 1997 until December of 2012.Â He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family.Â He also enjoyed playing cards, checkers and watching the Steelers.
Eileen M. Lucanik, 85, formerly of 138 Parade Street, St. Marys, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Broomall Presbyterian Village, a nursing care facility just outside of Philadelphia.
She was born December 23, 1927, in St. Marys, the daughter of the late Edward and Catherine Fritz Lodes.
She married Peter Lucanki, who preceded her in death in 1997.
She had lived in St. Marys most of her life and relocated to Philadelphia to be near her daughter. She was a retired employee of St. Marys Carbon Company where she worked for over 25 years.
Peter "Bud" Kunes, 82, of Kunes Road, Weedville, died at home late Friday, July 19, 2013.
He was born December 28, 1930 in Weedville, the son of the late Peter L. and Nellie (Ray) Kunes.
In 1960 he married Vera L. (McClintick) and she survives.
He lived all his life in Weedville and was a graduate of Weedville High School, Class of 1949.
He served in the U.S. Army, reaching the rank of Corporal and serving on the front lines in Korea.
Wallace David Clark Sr., died Friday, July 19, 2013.
He was born August 2, 1920 in Brockway.
He was a decorated WWII veteran with the U.S. Army as a survivor of five major battles and several missions during the war and was honorably discharged from the service at the rank of sergeant.
He was a retired employee of Stackpole Carbon Company of St. Marys and Elk County at the Ridgway Courthouse. He served as constable in Fox Township and as a volunteer firefighter for Fox Township in Kersey.
