Richard A. Gahr

Richard A. Gahr, 66, of 48 Grandview Rd., Williamsport, died unexpectedly, but peacefully, Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at his home.
Born Aug. 16, 1947 in St. Marys, he was the son of Robert A. and Edith Jackson Gahr.
He is survived by his wife, the former Peg O’Malley. They observed their 43rd anniversary on Aug. 15.
In addition to his wife, Rick is survived by sons Matthew (Amanda) of London, United Kingdom, and Daniel (Shirin) of San Francisco, Calif.; brothers Thomas A. (Joanne) of Northfield, N.J. and Patrick A. (Ann) of New Cumberland; and two grandchildren, Aidan and Audrey Gahr.

Joseph P. Rettger, 91, of St Marys, died Oct. 4, 2013 in Ridgefield, Conn.
He was born July 20, 1922 in St. Marys, son of Leo and Margaret Breindel Rettger, and one of 14 children.

Carmella D. Carnahan

October 7, 2013

Carmella D. Carnahan, age 80, of Oak Street, Johnsonburg, died at home Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 4, 1933 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Sisto and Elizabeth (Allegretto) Cicuzza.
She married Charles T. Carnahan in 1954, he preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 2008.

Donald D. Smith

Donald D. Smith, 77, of DuBois, died early Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 at the DuBois Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
He was born March 22, 1936 in Penfield, son of the late George R. and Rebecca D. (Sylvis) Smith Jr.
He was a graduate of Huston Township High School and received an associate degree from Penn in insurance/finance. He served in the Army and Army Reserves from 1959-1965, achieving rank of sergeant.

Rebecca Bauer Towne

Rebecca Bauer Towne, 48, of 307 Cook Ave., Ridgway, died on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following injuries received in an automobile accident in Clearfield County.
She was born Nov 2, 1964 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Clarence "Lefty" and Phyllis Ford Bauer.
She was married to David Towne, who survives.

Ila G. Kraus

Ila G. Kraus, 83, of 733 Theresia St., St. Marys, died on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
She was born Sept. 14, 1930 in Benezette, a daughter of the late David and Mildred English Swackhammer.
On June 23, 1956 in St. Marys' Church, she married the late A. Raymond Kraus, who preceded her in death in 1992.
Mrs. Kraus was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She attended Benezette schools and graduated from Weedville High School. She retired from Stackpole Carbon Company after many years of service. She enjoyed spending time with her

Lena M. Raybuck

Lena M. Raybuck, 79, of Smith Street, Ridgway, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013.
She was born in Portland Mills on Oct. 13, 1933, daughter of the late Perry and Mae Magee Dunn.
On Nov. 29, 1959, she married James P. Raybuck, and he preceded her in death on June 10, 2012.

Jerald W. Allshouse

Jerald W. Allshouse, 40, of Washington, and a former resident of Dagus Mines, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 at his residence.
He was born June 28, 1973 in Jamestown, N.Y., son of William F. and Dixie Johnson Allshouse of Dagus Mines.
He was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1991, and had resided in Washington since 2003.
Mr. Allshouse was an active member of the Family Worship Center in Pittsburgh, enjoyed computers, and took corresponding courses at the Art Institute.

Dr. Edith Mary Robacker, 70, of The Villages, Fla., died on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013.
She was born in St. Marys and moved to The Villages in 2002 from Clarksville, Md.
She was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church in Lady Lake, Fla.
